January 29, Luxembourg: the CACAO project successfully pass the mid-term review meeting.

February, Florence: Kick-off meeting of the CARE project.

March, worldwide: CELI lunch the organization of the first NLP4DL (Natural Language Processing for Digital Libraries) conference. The conference will take place at Viareggio on June 15.

March 20, Torino: Official start of the research project ICT4LAW, financed by Regione Piemonte. CELI has the biggest research share among industrial partners.

April 2/3, The Hague: kick-off of the Europeana 1.0 project. CELI is part of work package 2, on functionality and interoperability. (the Europeana web site)

June, Viareggio: the first NLP4DL (Natural Language Processing for Digital Libraries) conference jointly organized by CELI and GoNetworks under the auspices of CACAO Project took place at the Hotel Esplanade, in Viareggio. Some of the most influential researcher in the area of Digital Libraries and Natural Language proposed recent advances in dealing with text in digital libraries, with special focus on multilinguality and information extraction.
